When we find a destination we love and choose to visit again and again, the locale sometimes grows to have even more meaning than just being a place we’re excited to frequent. And, that’s definitely true for Macy and Blake. He grew up in Texas, miles away from the beaches of 30-A, and Macy is from Colorado. But once he introduced her to his family’s favorite spot to vacation, she was sold. Suddenly, Seaside, Florida was more than a place to visit for a beach trip. Instead, it became a destination where M and B would invite their guests to celebrate their wedding day with them — and what a day it was.
Leading up to their celebration, Macy and Blake embarked on a road trip across the country that spanned from Colorado to the sunny beaches of Florida. They chose to drive rather than fly to their wedding destination because they had a special road trip buddy along for the ride with them, their golden retriever puppy! Of course, after such a long ride, their dog needed to be included in the fun too.
M and B started their wedding day mornings off separately. Each spent time with their bridesmaids and groomsmen while they got ready. Thanks to the beautiful weather, both groups were even able to pop outside for photos before getting dressed. Once they were ready, it was time for Macy and Blake to share their first look together. It was heartfelt, emotional, and fun, just like them.
It’s one of my favorite ceremony locations because it’s modern while still offering plenty of warmth. Macy and Blake carefully chose their ceremony music, readings, and vows (they wrote their own and recited traditional ones). A joy-filled petal toss with their guests sent Macy and Blake into their first moments outside of the chapel as husband and wife, and it was perfect!
Just days before Macy + Blake said I do, they were faced with the devastating loss of Macy’s mother. Wedding days are a beautiful celebration, but they can also stir up many hard emotions. While there was little that could be done to heal the wound, her spirit was felt so strongly by those she loved on the wedding day. A memorial table and personal touch to the bouquet, along with copious prayers, was a soothing balm to their broken hearts.
Macy and Blake’s Ruskin Park reception vision was a bit Boho + Mirrorball Aesthetic + Terracotta. Macy was drawn to pampas grass, warm florals, and disco balls for a dash of fun, and I think the result is sassy, stylish, and on-trend — the words I always say describe my couples best!
Tables were lined with blooms by Florals by the Sea; place settings were topped with disco balls, which also hung overhead; and vignettes with lounge furniture and even more flowers invited guests to relax in between dance sets. Plus, the couple’s sweetheart table, with its fireplace backdrop complete with a custom sign, plenty of flowers, and an overflow of rich textures, served as an ultimate focal point.
Guests dined on a menu from Townsend Catering, and danced to Macy’s amazing playlist. They soaked in every moment, including the sunset. All the while, my team and I never wanted this beautiful day to end. Macy and Blake, thank you for wanting to introduce your friends and family to your favorite place. I’m honored you turned to me and my team to plan your day. It’s one I’ll never forget, and I’m certain your guests won’t either thanks to all of the beautiful photos captured by Abbey Rice.
